Try baking SPAM® Fries and you’ll never want to deep fry them again (we can get away with not calling these “fries” actually). They are naturally full of flavor already so you really don’t need to drown them in oil for them to taste good. In this recipe, we use egg whites which are also healthier. Make this appetizer for your next get together or party – it’s simple and will be a crowd pleaser.

According to SPAM®’s website, the canned meat contains only 6 ingredients: already-cooked pork, salt, water, potato starch, sugar and sodium nitrite (a common preservative). While it does have salt or sodium nitrite, to put things into perspective, hot dogs and pepperoni have a much higher salt or sodium nitrite content.

Steps

1
Done

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2
Done

One SPAM fry at a time, dredge in egg whites first then in the flour, covering completely with a light layer.

3
Done

Place in an aluminum foil-lined baking tray and bake for 30 minutes. Cool before serving. Enjoy!
